Digital Nature

manipulated microscope images

Many of the principles of natural form are especially well suited to computer imaging: repetition, pattern, changes in scale, camouflage, etc. Using resources in RISD's Nature Lab, I found a way to infuse digital imagery with the organic fluidity found in nature. These textures patterns were developed from photographs of natural objects & microscope views, adjusted on the computer & photographed again while on the screen. I could imagine them as lighting designs, wallpaper, & textiles.
